The Bristol Type 167 Brabazon 1

 

When the Bristol Brabazon made its first flight on 4th September 1949 it was the biggest aircraft in the world.  This talk looks at how the aircraft came to be designed and its manufacture.  The talk is illustrated with many photographs of the construction of the aircraft, the building of the associated Aircraft Assembly Halls (more familiarly known as the Brab Hangar) and the construction of the new runway that changed the local geography.
