This page is the gateway to those earlier talks that are being made available to be viewed over the Internet.
These talks were recorded by Peter Heaven for archive purposes and were not originally intended for general viewing. For most of the talks the limitations of the room where they were given resulted in the recordings being made from the side of the room so the presentation is not shot from straight on. In addition the acoustics of the room restricted the quality of the audio recorded. However, we feel the results are more than adequate to enable the talks to be enjoyed.
One limitation of the software that is used to build this website is that it is not possible to simply play the videos so that they fill the screen. A work around for Firefox under Windows has been identified and is described here.
